HIKING
Lookout #1 on top of Owl's Head in Jackman, Maine Winter 2006

HOME CANOE TRIPS CAMPING FISHING FAQS ABOUT ME UPDATES/TRIPS PLANNED WEATHER

The Jackman/Moose River Region has many nice hikes.

Area hikes include:

Options range from a short afternoon hikes right near the highway (Owl's Head), to all day hikes requiring travel on logging roads (Number Five Mountain, Kibby Mountain), to hikes that can be reached by canoe or boat (Sally Mountain, Burnt Jacket Loop).

Camping can be combined with most hikes as well. A favorite trip is paddling up Attean Lake to the Sally Mountain trailhead where there is a nice beach and campsite.

Trips to the Jackman/Moose River Region can be made with my transportation or we can meet in the area. If you and your family are planning a vacation in the area, let me know when you want to go and I will meet you at your accomodations.

For day hikes, snacks, meal(s), water bottles, and fanny packs are provided. You will need to wear appropriate clothing and footware. A windbreaker is recommended as it can be chilly at the summit of a mountain. Transportation to remote trailheads will be in my 2006 4x4 truck (unless you want to drive your vehicle as well) or by canoe/boat (which I will provide). All necessary watercraft gear will be provided. Map and compass instruction will be available for those who are interested.

For hikes with a night (or two) of camping, all camping gear and food will be provided except sleeping bags. You will have to bring all personal gear such as clothes, toiletries, etc.
